Oklahoma is ranked above the national average in its share of employment in patent-intensive industries.

In addition, for calendar years 2010 through 2015, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued more than 3,000 patents to inventor-applicants in Oklahoma. Also noteworthy is that, between 2010 and 2014, the value added to the gross domestic product of the United States by patent-intensive industries increased from $763 billion to $881 billion.
