Innovation Alliance Statement on House Energy & Commerce Committee Markup of the Targeting Rogue and Opaque Letters (TROL) Act

Washington D.C. – Innovation Alliance Executive Director Brian Pomper released the following statement on the House Energy & Commerce Committee Markup of the Targeting Rogue and Opaque Letters (TROL) Act:

The Targeting Rogue and Opaque Letters (TROL) Act is a balanced and thoughtful bill. The legislation carefully targets abusive behavior while maintaining the integrity of legitimate patent enforcement practices for all patent holders. Importantly, the TROL Act avoids the overly-broad approach of H.R. 9, the so-called ‘Innovation Act,’ that we believe would dramatically weaken U.S. patent laws and undermine innovation and economic growth in the country. The Innovation Alliance applauds the House Energy and Commerce Committee for advancing the TROL Act and looks forward to working with Congress to get it enacted.
