Conservative Groups and Technology Organizations Send Open Letter to Trump Administration and Congress Providing IP Guidelines

In an open letter to the Trump administration and Congress, more than 50 leading conservative groups and technology organizations championed the value of intellectual property for the U.S. and provided guidelines for the consideration of laws and regulations governing IP.

The groups, including American Conservative Union, American Legislative Exchange Council, Americans for Tax Reform, Information Technology and Innovation Foundation and National Small Business Association, argued that strong intellectual property boosts America’s economy, promotes free speech and protects consumers, noting: “the Founding Fathers understood that by protecting the proprietary rights of….inventors, they were promoting the greater public welfare.”
