Spotlight on IA Innovation: Cummins Allison Update

Congratulations to Innovation Alliance member Cummins Allison on being recognized once again for its leadership in innovation.  For the fifth year in a row, Cummins Allison has been ranked as one of the top three innovators on Crain’s Eureka Innovation Index for Chicago-area companies, based on the number and quality of its patents.

Cummins Allison has shaped the way financial institutions, gaming properties and retailers across the U.S. – and the globe – process and handle bills, coins, checks and now ATMs. In terms of patent quality, they consistently rank in the top three of all technology companies in Illinois, including names such as Boeing and Caterpillar. And as central as patents are to its success, Cummins Allison CEO William J. Jones notes they are central to America’s success as well, saying: “Innovation and a strong U.S. patent system creates jobs, helps U.S. companies compete in the international marketplace and strengthens the American economy.”
