Innovation Alliance Statement Calling For Transparency in Judiciary Committee Process on Patent Legislation

WASHINGTON – Innovation Alliance Executive Director Brian Pomper today released the following statement calling for leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee to release details of the latest progress that was announced on patent legislation this week and provide transparency for stakeholders who have expressed serious concerns about the impacts of pending patent proposals on America’s innovation economy.

“The Innovation Alliance appreciates the dedication that Senate leaders have shown in working to craft a package that addresses abusive practices in patent litigation. As we enter this next phase of the debate with yesterday’s announcement of the Committee’s latest progress, transparency on the details will be key to ensuring that the thousands of inventors, universities and innovative American companies who stand to be most impacted by these changes have a chance to weigh in on these new proposals. We call on Senate leaders to share the details of the latest potential deal and include the leaders of America’s innovation economy in a collaborative process that results in a balanced approach to patent legislation that is acceptable to all stakeholders.”
